CHANEL ON CHEVRON!!

Today I had the best compliment I have had in a long time!! A regular customer of mine visited the store and spent a long time looking at the CHANEL. After 45 mins or so she had inspected every piece of CHANEL I have. She said "Well Michael- you have done it this time!!Your range is better than the one in Brisbane!"

This shocked me a little but at the same time I felt a tingle of pride! The CHANEL I have been sourcing lately is absolutely beautiful!! I have found some really gorgeous pieces that are so different with big oversized CC logos that scream CHANEL....these are the logos that designer KARL LARGERFELD put on CHANEL during the 1980's.

Others are earlier examples with elegantly stitched logos that are just exquisit!! others are much older and have small or no logos on the outside of the bags.

Coco CHANEL's logo was originally the way her grand-father Joseph Chanel signed the handmade furniture that he produced that he used in the Tavern he ran in the village of Ponteils. In fact much of the classic embellishments that CHANEL used were taken from her ordinary unassuming up bringing. The gilt chain and leather handles on her bags were inspired by the chain belts that French nuns used to cinch the waist of their volumous habbits. The quilting that is standard on many CHANEL bags was inspired by the stitching that chestnut farmers in that region of France used to reinforce the sacks they carted their harvest to markets in.

Coco Chanel rejected overly elaborate designs and focused on creating bags and clothing that was practical was embellished on a no nonsence subtle way. She stitched chains in the hems of jackets so as to preserve the line of the jacket. The cut and Jersey fabric she favoured was durable, easy to launder and more importantly allowed ease of movement.  This was revolutionary and was a move away from the restrictive clothing of the Victorian and Eduardian periods.

Chanel was the ultimate craftsman which is what she aspired to!! She cringed when she heard herself as an artist or a genious. She continued to work until her death and amassed a fortune beyond anything she ever imagined. Her business broke all the rules and yet she excelled through 2 wars and some of the darkest periods of human history today the empire she created and her logo is recognised world wide and even in times of ecconomic downturn continues to grow.

I hope you enjoy my Fave CHANEL bags.

Jewellery Designer- Edouard Rambaud!!

The CHANEL case has been looking a bit sparse so I decided to put a small display of Edouard Rambaud in the case. Edouard Rambaud- was a fabulous 1980's designer he created big runway earrings, Charm belts and fabulous jewelled bags! I have been busy putting together a very unique collection of his very special pieces together for the last few months!!

Edouard Rambaud was famous for his use of hearts, suns, stars, and crosses in his designs. He made big bold statement pieces using lots of rolled gold and platinum!! Rambaud was a designer who shaped his era.

Rambaud- was a contempory of Christian Lacroix and they both created very unique and unusual designs that stood out among the Fluro colors of the 1980's. Women wearing Jackets with shoulder pads and dancing around in dirty dancing style leggings all aspired to wearing a piece of jewellery or a little jewelled bag created by Rambaud.

I have collected earrings, jewelled bags, even little demi tasse coffee cups. Here are a few pictures for you all to enjoy!!
